Compressor Vibration Mitigation Study

A refinery had fluctuating excessive vibrations on their wet gas compressors, which resulted in fractured grouting on pipe supports.  Concerned for the reliability of the compressors and connected piping, they contracted REDD to identify potential options and cost estimates for mitigating observed problems and preventing future failures.

REDD reviewed drawings of the compressor configuration, foundation design, and connected piping to gain understanding of what factors could or could not be controlled. REDD then visited the site and discussed observed issues with equipment operators to form practical ideas for remediation.  Afterwards, we delivered a detailed matrix showing solutions versus effectiveness with cost estimates to aid the client in deciding which options to pursue.
