Remote Controls in Remote Locations

A radar tower installation was a critical component in supporting the military’s new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) testing at the UTTR, where a reliable Flight Termination System (FTS) was needed in case of emergency. System Planning Corporation (SPC) supplied the antennas for the FTS and hired REDD to provide all aspects of management, design, excavation, fabrication, construction, erection, and site cleanup.

This included custom monopole towers, non-metallic antenna mounting structures, foundations, and cable paths to support the antennas at three remote UTTR locations: Cedar Mtn, Goshute, and Trout Creek. REDD managed all fabrication and construction efforts and delivered complete engineering and design drawings while adhering to the strict codes and regulations required on military installations.

Despite logistical challenges and government constraints, REDD successfully completed the project on schedule and within budget.
