Increasing the Air Supply

Plant Air Study

A local refinery contracted REDD to study their plant air system to diagnose problems with air supply and provide recommendations to bring the system back into regulatory compliance.

After an extensive review of the plant air system, REDD found that the compressor array lacked the capacity to meet air demands, even with diesel backup compressors running much of the time.  Additionally, one of the primary air headers was undersized and would inhibit any increase in capacity.

REDD created a short-term plan to get the system back into regulatory compliance and meet air needs using temporary electric compressors instead of diesel ones.  The client contracted REDD to perform a follow-up project to begin the installation of a long-term solution.
